I really don't want to abandon this blog. I mean, I've had it for like...3 years now. I feel as if it's a strong part of my internet past that has slowly become obsolete...but I still don't want to get rid of it. When I got my deviantart account I thought "oh how great this is, but I'm still going to use my blog. I mean, you can actually make a large post on blogs where as everything is so individual on DA." But I fell so in love with the community and kindness of other artists that I saw no need for a blog anymore. Especially since all I have been posting is directly copied and pasted from DA. Plus, everyone who does follow my blog also fallows my DA so...it's kinda redundant. I'm probably not going to get rid of Duck With Umbrella but I just wanted to send out a friendly message not to expect anything from this here blog. I barely post on my livejournal as it is, seeing as I don't like talking about personal things, let alone on the internet. Who knows, maybe I'll find a better purpose for DWUP. I'll keep you posted.

A Summer Update

This whole post consists of no post adjustments. Everything was completely traditional so it may look gross! XD

I took life drawing classes last week and thought I'd post at least one of my drawings.

This was made by covering the whole (news print) page in Willow and then erasing the light parts with a kneadable eraser.

Yaaay. I think we had about 20 min to work on this, unfortunately I didn't get to finish it. It's cool because instead of putting lines onto paper and creating, I was taking them away to give the illusions of lights and darks ;P

This pic got smudged when I put it in my folder and the pic makes it look all gross >__<

If you can't tell if it's a girl or a guy then that's perfect because it's supposed to be like that ;P though, in actuality, the character is a girl.
We made a sort of bet/deal and once I got my end of it I had to make this for her XD Sorry it took so long.

One thing makes me very sad about this picture...when I converted it to a JPEG, like all my pictures, it turned lighter and less vibrant *sniff* I like the colours so much better when it's a PSD >__<

Some of you may be thinking that I'm on a drawing hiatus because I don't post that often buuuuut you'd be wrong! I doodle all the time at school ;P My notebooks are just cluttered with doodles! So here's just a tiny example of a few random doodles I did somewhat recently.

Sci-gee Mighty Mugg

You know Mighty Muggs? Those blank dolls you've most likely passed by hundreds of times in comic shops or cons? You've probably already come to the conclusion that they're made blank so that people can customize them themselves by painting on them. Well, I thought I'd give it a shot. The rest of this blog post will be a step-by-step on how I created my Sci-gee Mighty Mugg.

So first I started off by going to Curry's and buying some acrylic paint and brushes. This is only my second time working with acrylic paint^^ The first was at school, 2 or 3 years ago.

I lightly sketched Sci-gee on right away. I don't like making roughs for my work as I find they are a waste of time and I always like my originals better anyways.

Then I started to paint onto the sketch.

I decided to paint outside since it was nice out.

I didn't intend on going over my sketch with paint but tried on the scars anyways...it didn't look so good...

Theeeen I tried to ink everything with a pen. It looked sooo much better. But it smudged really easily! >.<

Adding some shimmer and shine to the helmet, boots and gloves.

For the arrow in her head, I got a tooth pick, painted it black and then cut it half. I made the edges on a slant so that it would curve and hold onto her helmet. I then glued them on and waited for everything to dry.

Now adding stripes to her dress and cleaning up some smudges.

I noticed a couple days ago that Sci-gee (Lethal Lips) and Stein (Soul Eater) are quite similar in design. (˚∆˚) They both have dangerous weapons through their heads and scars all over their bodies. This was purely accidental! I came up with Sci-gee way before I even heard of Soul Eater!!

Thanks to everyone who pointed out the mis-drawn panel in the last page ^^; I drew her sleeping in the day by accedent, sorry for the continuity mistake^^; Sci-gee was originally an actual insomniac, but then after getting all your messages I thought: oh yea, vampires are nocturnal aren't they...

So, from now on in, Sci-gee is nocturnal and every time you see the word insomniac from later pages, just switch it to nocturnal and everyone is happy :D

Many (actually only one) have wondered how I put my comic Lethal Lips together! Well here it is:
1) Get tools all out and ready (pencil, rulers...many many rulers, eraser and blank piece of paper)
2) Think of dialogue and what the heck I'm going to put on said piece of paper
3) sketch
4) ink
5) scan = clean up, shade and letter on photoshop
6) Ta-DA!!! Time to export and post!

Sorry, no Lethal Lips yet! Had...*caughs* HAVE some crazy projects I'm doing, and just don't have time! (I'm sure you're sick of hearing that...practically everyone uses that as an excuse for everything) But it's the truth! I haven't even Role Played yet! That's how busy I am! I'll stop yelling now!

This is my entry for a school contest
An interesting book. I've not finished reading The Luxe, but it's pretty good so far. The story focuses on different characters, (like boogiepop) which is pretty refreshing and despite it being a book about backstabbing, loathing, angst and jealousy (all the things I love *sarcasm*) being set in the 19th century (time of innocence, etiquette and manners) is pretty awesome.

Tired of listening to the same old? Check out the whimsical "Birthday Massacre"! (unless...like me...they are your 'same old') this funky fresh, gothic band has sweet and unique sounds! The stories behind their songs are dark, hardcore fairy tales and can match any situation! Definitely give this metal punk band a listen!

If you haven't already, you MUST watch Soul Eater! Soul Eater is a twisted gothic looking anime, jam-packed with action and witty humor! The plot is original and the animation is phenomenal! It's an on-going series and one you can't miss out!

Ladies and gentlemen, I bring you the long awaited: Lethal lips!

Not sure if this is going to be a by weekly or monthly strip...
I drew the rough/outline for this back in December (I think) but only cleaned it up today. It was a half day so I figured, why not. *sighs* my sweet half day all gone...At least I was productive^^

Oh, and in answer to a comment: No, I will not be posting any of my portfolio work because I sent it in last Monday and didn't take any pictures. Sorry.^^; Maybe once I get it back I will.

Well, first off, I just wanted to say: Happy 2009 everybody! Just think, it's been 3 years since the creation of this blog! Thanks for sticking with me so long^^ and if you're a new follower, thanks anyways!
Can't say that I'm sorry for not posting in 17 days. (woaaa, loooong time!) I was busy completing my portfolio and working on other projects, fu fu. Sadly to say...I haven't really developed anymore plot for Lethal Lips...But I'll get to it.

I recently wrote out a dream I had...and for whatever reason the Jonas Brothers were in it *shivers* Not sure where I should post that. It's 18 pages o_O A bit of a monster for a blog post. Any suggestions?

For Christmas I knitted custom scarves for people but didn't end up making one for myself. My old blue one (I made before) got super stretched and would hang past my coat. So, I got some wool, turned on a radio show and knitted. I finished the whole thing in one sitting. so, about 2 hours? Haha it was fun. Now I have a scarf!

And best part, it matches my mitts and hat! The mitts are Christmas present's from T-ben and the hat used to be my grandfathers. Funny how old things become trendy again~ (or I should say, 'vinatge') hehe

The new year brings many a great things. For one I will start Role playing again, come January. Second of all (since I'll be done my portfolio) I will be working on my comic Lethal lips. I actually came up with the primes sometime in the summer but decided to put Sci-Gee as the main character just today haha XD I knew she'd be useful eventually! I'll tell you more about the characters and plot once I figure that out ^^;;

Also, My internet is steadily dying out so I probably wont be online for a while. Currently I am borrowing someone else's laptop. Since these were on my USB I figured I should post them. These are backgrounds that I created to personalize my R4 chip...but unfortunately I posses a mac and can't get these on my R4...*sighs*

Ugh Tarty Tarts

In the series "Looking Glass Wars", the writer is absolutely ubsest with some stupid snack called "Tarty Tarts". UBSEST! In fact, in one scean in the book, the evil warrior princess, Redd, who hates the world, needs to call upon the oricals of wonderland for reasons that I will not spoil. So, to lure them in, she summons a vending cart full of TARTY TARTS...AND THEY COME!!! AAAAAAHHHHH dumbest part in the booooook! Here's the actuall writting:
'We'll have to draw them out.' she said, conjuring a vendor's cart filled with fresh, aromatic tarty tarts in a variety of flavours. Vollrath, The Cat, Siren and Alistare fanned the delicious scents out in all directions, and in less than it would have taken a hungry wonderland child to eat a single tarty tart-
...I'm sorry, I can't go on...-_-

Da' showed me an article about the stupid (awsome) dress codes at ascot. I couldn't help but laugh when one woman called men who wear brown dress shoes "yobs" I instantly fell in love with the word "yob" and searched it on Wikipedia. Wiki answers: "slang term for an uncouth blue collar individual or thug" I wrote out my affections for the word in chalk.

For a scetch book I resieved as a cristmas present 3 years ago I was pretty excited to finally use it. But alas...
The book pacifically says in bold letters: BLEED PROOF MARK PAD! HIGH QUALITY BLEEDPROOF MARKER PAPER FOR ROUGHS AND VISUALS.
It bleeds and smudges like its nobody buisness
when earasing the pencil lines from this drawing all the ink came off along with it and I had to ink all over again
The papers glossy, how could you use markers with it?

Since I hadn't posted in a while I kinda figured that when I did...it would be a big post. I drew all this stuff pasifically for my blog like all my other pics. (except gaia) Me and Red rose got into a bit of a 'cat fight' over little jimmy down the street, who we both have a crush on. (that was all a lie, but just go along with it) so insted of slapping each other randomly, we got stirophome swords (they hurt) from the garage and fought in the front yard. everyone could see and hear us. hehe. seriously, there is no jimmy and we really did fight.
I take shower's at night so I always wake up with insane bed head. luckily its brushable.
the sketch looked WAAAAAY better. trust me. plz.
I'm reading chocolat now. so far it's really good.
I finished golden compass. it wasn't enjoyable at all. It took all my stenght to finish.

This is for a school project. we have to write a story and cosidering DTUC's been sorta a hit, I figured to have the story about one of my random drawings. Okay-so this was mearly a test to see how well I could do a good copy version on the computer. inking on photoshop *shiver*. anyways...
so this is the origional that was scaned in.
Then I traced over it with the best of my wobbly-hand-abblities...
and this was the final...I don't think I'm going to be doing that again any time soon.

I Hate El diablo

I hate el diablo soooo much. (the demon lord which controlls my misfortunes) wanna know why? okay, I was assignd this 23 page project that counted as 70% of my english mark. I finished it and everything was all and well...until el diablo stepped in. he made sure my printer would run out of ink and get all messed and then he hid all the USB keys in the house. The project is due in two days and we've had 3 weeks to work on it. ABSOLUTELY NO EXCUSES. aaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhh im doomed!
